The Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC) is the world's premier event for Measurement Technology Professionals sponsored by the Coordinate Metrology Society. Established in 1984, the five-day annual conference is held each year at a different location and attracts visitors from around the globe.  The Coordinate Metrology Society Conference sets itself apart as a pillar in our industry. Boasting an unmatched array of metrology technical presentations, an interactive exhibit hall showcasing the forefront of 3D technology, engaging sessions with industry leaders, and myriad other offerings; this esteemed five-day event is a cornerstone of the field. 

This year’s event, held July 22nd to July 25th, will mark the 40th Anniversary of the CMSC and will take place at the beautiful Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte/Concord in North Carolina. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in America and is famous for its sophisticated cuisine, dynamic art scene, and beautiful architecture.

40th Anniversary, the CMSC is expanding its featured speakers to include 3 keynotes
that have been recognized as “Titans” of the coordinate metrology industry: John
Brown, Dr. Kam Lau, and John Palmateer. These individuals have a spent a lifetime
involved in Coordinate Metrology and greatly advanced the science we all use daily.
Each morning of the conference will include one keynote to discuss their area of
expertise, how coordinate metrology has changed since 1984, and where the industry is

Presentation and Publication Opportunities Abound for Both Portable and Stationary Measurement Leaders 

– The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) today announced its 2024 Call for Papers for the 40h annual Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC), July 22 - 25, 2024, in Charlotte, NC. The CMS is the eminent membership association for measurement professionals worldwide. The CMS encourages abstract submissions that explore diverse applications of 3D metrology, stationary and portable, to improve processes, productivity, and the user experience. Since 1984, industry leaders have contributed over 500 high-level technical papers and presentations to the CMSC portfolio, the most comprehensive repository of portable metrology knowledge and information. "Being a first time attendee to the conference, I was very impressed by the presentation and the overall experience.  I am amazed by the closeness of all of the participants.  One line that stuck out was that the conference is more like a family reunion than a trade show which seemed true.  Everyone I spoke with was extremely friendly and inviting and would answer any questions with no hesitation.  The creativity of the board that put the show together is outstanding, specifically the Measurement Zone and the Education Zone.  I certainly look forward to attending a future conference!"

"My experience with the CMSC has been in the attendee, presenter and volunteer capacities.  The CMSC is the premier organization for industrial metrology.  The depth and breadth of knowledge is outstanding.  Every year I come away with something new I learned and many times I learn things I can directly apply to my day-to-day job.  From the exhibit hall, to the Measurement and Education Zones to the presentations there is something for everyone.

I haven’t seen an organization where competitors come together to share information and work together to achieve common goals like the CMS.  Last year I heard an OEM thank his competitors for the competition that spurred the development of new technology.  The CMSC feels like a group of friends; competition is healthy and the environment is very inclusive.  I am very glad to be a part of it.

I am a member of the Precision Path Consortium.  We are a group of users and manufacturers of metrology equipment that is developing a technology roadmap of meteorology needs for the next 10 years.  It is refreshing to work with a diverse group of people that came together as a team very quickly and began working efficiently and with focus.  It is exciting to be part of casting vision for our industry’s future and I look forward to each meeting.

The CMSC has been a very rewarding part of my career in the field of metrology.  I feel that my involvement with this organization has given me an edge that I couldn’t get without being a CMSC member."
