Gary Confalone has been working in the metrology industry for the past 20 plus years. He attended and presented at CMSC early on in his career while he was a Systems Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft – a job he took out of college in the late eighties. At Sikorsky Gary was an active member of the American Helicopter Society, where he was involved in laser metrology research as it applied to the production of the Army’s RAH-66 Comanche Helicopter. He received the Inventor's Recognition Award from Sikorsky Aircraft where he spent close to a decade developing various laser based measurement and boresighting systems in support of the Comanche, Special Ops Blackhawk, Navalhawk, and S-92 programs. After leaving Sikorsky and moving to Boston, Gary became the East Coast Sales Engineer for SpatialMetrix Corp. (SMX), and then went on to become the Director of Business Development for Laser Projection Technologies. In 2001 Gary started East Coast Metrology, an engineering and service provider for the 3D metrology industry. Today, many years later, Gary is the CEO of ECM - Global Measurement Solutions. Gary is also an active member of the Coordinate Metrology Society - Certification Committee; a subcommittee established to define and certify technical personnel in the various disciplines of 3D metrology. Throughout the years, Gary has provided many presentations and workshops at CMSC. Gary received a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts with a minor in optical physics. He continued his graduate studies in optical physics and engineering earning a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering from Boston University. Gary currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife and two children. Gary is an active member in his church and community, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
