ABOUT CMS

Founded in 1984, the Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) is a large membership of users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close tolerance, industrial coordinate measurement technology. These metrology systems include inspection software, traditional CMMs, theodolites, GPS, laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radar, photogrammetry/ videogrammetry systems, scanning devices, and articulating arms.

Purpose
The CMS is an international society of individuals and organizations committed to supporting and advancing precise and accurate measurements derived from dimensional coordinate measurement systems.

Mission
The CMS will be the world leader in advancing the science, education, skills, and methods inherent to coordinate metrology. The CMS will provide value to its membership by creating platforms and opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop standards, and recognize individuals and organizations that benefit our industry and its future.

International representation

The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) continues to expand educational activities for our members and the industry with the publishing of technical papers in the CMS Journal, certification,  demonstrations and presentations that are all delivered by world leading experts and innovators in the field of metrology.

The annual conference (CMSC) provides the platform for an internationally represented exchange of knowledge and understanding in an open forum that allows for a wealth of discussion and networking for all.

The Coordinate Metrology Society is devoted to expanding and promoting the usage of mobile metrology systems. The membership assembles each year at the Coordinate Metrology Society Conference (CMSC) to learn about the latest in-use advancements and new product developments in measurement software or systems that produce, utilize, and analyze three-dimensional coordinate data.

The CMS also publishes The Journal of the CMSC twice a year and devotes its pages to the finest white papers presented by industry experts each year at the conference. Topics covered include diverse applications of portable, three-dimensional measurement technology. The society also publishes CMSC WORLD, a quarterly eNewsletter that delivers the latest news, case stories, feature articles, and more covering the field of metrology.

Membership dues are $75 per year. There are many ways you can engage with the membership from volunteering during the conference, running for a position on the Executive Committee, or serving on a sub-committee of the organization. This professional society is ours to grow. Be a part of it!
