This year's Measurement Zone is Sponsored by:
The Measurement Zone has become the focal point in the action-packed hall where exhibitors showcase their newest products, technology and services. Attendees are engaged and challenged with creative daily activities, including knowledge contests and hands-on competitions using portable metrology systems.
Hands-On Challenges
The Measurement Zone ushers attendees to the ground floor of best practices using metrology equipment. This year, the Measurement Zone will be divided into 7 distinct technology zones. Each area will introduce the participant to different types of equipment to measure various types and sizes of parts.

Large Scale 3D Scanning Competition
How fast can you scan an entire vehicle? See how fast state of the art scanners have become!
Laser line scanners, Terrestrial laser scanners, Structured light scanners, flying dot scanners… What’s the difference and when would you use what? Get firsthand experience with the latest scanning technologies from all the major vendors and see just how quickly large objects can be scanned. See if you can complete scanning ½ a car in just 10 minutes!!
Challenge:
How quickly can each technology scan a vehicle? A vehicle will be provided in the ZONE and each person will have 10 minutes at each station to inspect as much of the vehicle as time allows. Total participant time should be 1hr (5 minute introduction, 10 minute scan time, 5 minute wrap up and station rotation x 4 stations). At the end of the 10 minute scan time the participant will have 2 – 3 minutes to see what they accomplished.
Rules:
- At the start of each 10 minute scan session the vehicle MUST start “new”.
- If any targets, spray or otherwise are required they must be both applied and removed within the allotted 10 minute “scan time”.
- Data must be available for review at the end of the 10 minute scan period. If any “post-processing" is required, this MUST be done within the allotted 10 minutes.
