2025 Keynote Presentation
Title: Educating the Next Generation of Metrologists
Abstract
As in many fields, a sizable fraction of the metrology workforce is nearing – or past – retirement age. How can we entice younger people into our field, and provide the training and mentorship needed for a fulfilling career in metrology before the acquired wisdom in the current workforce dissipates? In this talk I will share my personal thoughts on the future of the profession, as well as efforts underway at UNC Charlotte to prepare students to make relevant contributions through an increased knowledge and appreciation of metrological principles.
