Abstract
A scale bar approximately 2.3 m in length is specified in the ISO and ASME laser tracker standards as necessary test equipment to evaluate the measuring performance of laser trackers. A 2.3-m length is chosen as the approximate length that will sufficiently expose measurement error sources in LTSs, for a scale bar placed at the specified distances from the tracker during testing. A NIST report describing interim testing of LTSs, published in 2014, specifies tests using both a 2.3-m and a 1.15-m length scale bar. This presentation will describe testing of LTSs using a single 1.15-m scale bar. The proposed tests are designed to be sensitive to all the geometric error sources in the LTS. The proposed testing procedure and experimental results will be presented
